About Emelia Symington-Fedy
Emelia is the founding co-artistic director of The Chop theatre group and tours their works extensively to global acclaim. In 2023 Emelia launched her first book, Skid Dogs a memoir about girl joy amidst teenage rape culture, set in the 1990’s (Douglas and McIntyre). Skid Dogs spent 16 weeks on the BC Bestseller list, was one of CBC’s best nonfiction of 2024, and was nominated for the 2024 Yukon and BC Best Book Award. Her next book is a speculative-fiction-memoir hybrid that uses truth and the unreal to upend white feminism.
Skids Dogs is one of the three books selected by the Okanagan Reads program, which is funded through the Sharron Simpson Family Community Engagement Endowment Fund. The Okanagan Reads program aims to form book club kits for community book clubs. Learn more about the Okanagan Reads program and the other featured titles.
