August 10 at 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

The Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science would like to extend an invitation to join fellow astronomy enthusiasts to look for shooting stars.

The Perseid meteor shower viewing is a public evening event hosted by the National Research Council of Canada. This event will feature talks on the observatory site, and stargazing.

When you wish upon a shooting star

This is a free public event; no pre-registration is required. Telescopes will be provided by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Okanagan Centre. Attendees are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Note: Keeping the zone around the DRAO radio silent is imperative to operations. For this reason, we kindly ask visitors and passers-by to turn off their cell phones, laptops, smart watches, and other connected devices. Please note that activating the ‘airplane mode’ is not sufficient. Additionally, due to the dry conditions, smoking is prohibited in all areas on site. Thank you.
