Proud Pages: A no-read book club. Let’s talk “High School”

The Pride Programmers are hosting a no-read book club!
We’re all busy with exams, so instead of reading a book before the event, we’ll be hosting an open conversation about queer identities, growing up, and chosen community, inspired by the memoir High School by Tegan & Sara.
Sara Quin and Tegan Quin are Canadian trailblazers, and their memoir, High School, explores the joys and growing pains of sisterhood, creating music, and growing up queer.
Dinner is included, AND we will be giving away two copies of the book and a “Queer Book Club” hat from Mosaic at the event.
Those who register will be emailed a reminder, a brief community agreement, and discussion questions a week in advance of the event.
The book is available at the Okanagan Regional Libraries and at the UBC Okanagan Library. Content warnings include drug and alcohol use, violence, bullying, homophobia and lesbophobia, and brief suicidality.
Undergraduate and graduate students welcome. Drop in anytime at the Global Collegium. Participants can expect light conversation throughout the event. There are wheelchair accessible, gendered washrooms directly across from the Global Collegium, and there is a wheelchair accessible, all gender single-stall washroom located on the same floor.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel welcome to email pride.ubco@ubc.ca. Presented in partnership with the UBC Okanagan Library.
