Understanding Publishing Agreements: A Workshop for Graduate Researchers

Are you a researcher who wants to publish your work in a journal or book?

Do you know how to negotiate the best terms and conditions for your publication? Do you understand your rights and responsibilities as an author? If not, this workshop is for you!

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Identify the types and features of publishing agreements in a Canadian setting
  • Compare and evaluate different publishing options, such as open access, subscription, or hybrid models
  • Use reliable tools and resources to find and select reputable publishers and journals
  • Negotiate and review your publishing contract, including fees, licenses, rights, and obligations

The workshop will consist of a presentation, a hands-on exercise, and a Q&A session. You will also receive a list of useful links and references for further use.

This workshop qualifies for the Scholarly Research, Writing, and Publishing Credential offered through the College of Graduate Studies.
