Python Basics (1 of 5): Getting Started with Python and Jupyter Notebooks

This series of introductory workshops are intended for individuals with little to no familiarity with Python or similar tools that rely on a scripted environment. They are intended as a low-barrier entry into the world of research computing through the Python language.
Getting Started with Python and Jupyter Notebooks (workshop 1 of 5): This session will introduce participants to fundamental computation concepts in Python, laying the foundation for more advanced topics. Topics covered include the application of simple math, data types and structures (using the pandas library). Additionally, an overview of vector operations, and how to navigate getting help will be covered. The workshop will be run using Jupyter Notebooks.
By the end of the session, participants should feel familiar with Jupyter Notebook as an environment for interactive analysis in Python, be able to identify and articulate use cases for common data structures, and know a few key ways to get help.
