“Radical Empathy” & Research in (and outside) of the Archives

April 1, 2022 at 11:15 am - 12:15 pm

Join us for this virtual talk with Dr. Linda Morra, current Farley Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Simon Fraser University.

In this talk, Dr. Morra will examine the premise that conducting feminist archival research is viewed “in the contemporary moment as inseparable from an act of ethical care,” while being implicated in “emotionally-charged processes” that “act upon [its] subjects and enact fields of knowledge” (Moving Archives).

Practice in feminist archival research has increasingly called for the careful delineation between the implications, ethical and otherwise, for this posture.

This talk is organized through the AMP Lab, and is co-sponsored by the Principal’s Research Chair (Digital Arts& Humanities) and Cultural Studies.
