The UBC Okanagan Centre for Teaching and Learning invites you to join us for a series of multi-access workshops from August 15th to the 31st. You have the choice of joining us either in person or online via Zoom.

Many faculty members grapple with the tension between syllabi that conform to departmental and university guidelines and ones that are creative, student-centered, and friendly.  How might the syllabus assist your learners in mapping their progress through the course? This 90-minute workshop will introduce the building blocks of the course syllabus and explore how to adhere to university guidelines while also being student-centered. We encourage you to bring a (draft) syllabus to the workshop to get feedback!

Topics will include:

  • Using the Syllabus Generator in Curriculum MAP to create syllabi that conform with departmental and university guidelines
  • Creating student-centered syllabi, including “unsyllabi” and “visual syllabi”
  • Aligning syllabi with Universal Design for Learning
  • Applying strategies to involve students in co-creating aspects of a syllabus and engaging with it

All UBCO instructors are invited to register.
