Many faculty members grapple with the tension between syllabi that conform to departmental and university guidelines and ones that are creative, student-centered, and friendly. How might the syllabus assist your learners in mapping their progress through the course? This 90-minute workshop will introduce the building blocks of the course syllabus and explore how to adhere to university guidelines while also being student-centered. We encourage you to bring a (draft) syllabus to the workshop to get feedback!
Topics will include:
- Using the Syllabus Generator in Curriculum MAP to create syllabi that conform with departmental and university guidelines
- Creating student-centered syllabi, including “unsyllabi” and “visual syllabi”
- Aligning syllabi with Universal Design for Learning
- Applying strategies to involve students in co-creating aspects of a syllabus and engaging with it
All UBCO instructors are invited to register.
