Thesis Writing: Abstract and Lay Summary

At UBC, theses and dissertations are required to have an abstract and lay summary. This online workshop is designed to help you enhance your abstract and lay summary writing skills. We will cover effective strategies and offer sample abstracts and lay summaries from different fields and for various purposes (such as theses, conferences, and funding applications). We welcome your questions and encourage you to ask them at the session.

This workshop is developed for graduate students across all disciplines. Join us to gain valuable insights into crafting effective abstracts and lay summaries that can serve you well in your academic journey.

This workshop qualifies for the Scholarly Research, Writing, and Publishing Credential offered through the College of Graduate Studies.
