Why am I my own worst critic?

March 26 at 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Do you find yourself constantly criticizing and doubting yourself?

Are you tired of feeling like you’re never good enough? This workshop is designed to help you understand why you are your own worst critic and how to change that inner monologue to a more compassionate and supportive dialogue.

In this workshop, we will explore the root causes of self-criticism and the impact it has on our self-worth, effective boundary setting, and motivation. We will delve into the negative patterns and beliefs that fuel our inner critic and learn practical strategies to shift towards a more positive and empowering mindset.

Key learning objectives:

  • Understand the origins of self-criticism and its impact on self-worth. Gain insight into why we tend to be overly critical of ourselves and how it affects our overall sense of self-worth and confidence.
  • Identify and challenge negative self-talk patterns. Learn how to recognize and challenge the negative thoughts and beliefs that contribute to self-criticism and replace them with more compassionate and supportive self-talk.
  • Develop effective boundary-setting skills. Discover how self-criticism can hinder our ability to set healthy boundaries and learn practical techniques to establish and maintain boundaries that promote self-care and wellbeing.
  • Cultivate self-compassion and motivation. Explore strategies to cultivate self-compassion and develop a more positive and motivating inner dialogue, allowing for increased self-acceptance and personal growth.

All faculty and staff at UBC Vancouver and Okanagan are welcome to attend.
