Community of Practice: Innovative Teaching Techniques and Tools

October 22 at 11:00 am - 11:50 am

Join us for our second discussion of the term! No registration is necessary but if you are not already on the email list, please reach out to Barbara Komlos (barbara.komlos@ubc.ca).

Our topic for this session will be Universal Design for Learning. During this session, Dr. Electra Eleftheriadou, Educational Consultant for Inclusion at the Centre for Teaching and Learning, will offer advice and insights. Together we will consider the 3 pillars of UDL and discuss ways for implementing them in our courses, and we’ll explore ideas on how to implement UDL in our classrooms.

For context, the three pillars of UDL are:

  • Designing Multiple Means of Engagement
  • Designing Multiple Means of Representation
  • Designing Multiple Means of Action and Expression

The co-facilitators will be using the UDL Guidelines graphic organizer to help guide discussion. Feel free to have a sneak peek prior to the session to get ideas and formulate your questions for our group discussion.
