Lightning Round Faculty Presentations: Innovative Technologies for Teaching

Come join a lightning round type presentation where some UBCO instructors will speak about innovative tools they have developed and/or third party tools they have integrated to enhance their teaching practice. This session will showcase tool advancements within the UBCO learning and teaching community and Instructors will learn about the capabilities and limitations of these systems to help determine if they would be appropriate for their classes. Some of the tools presented include: 

• HelpMe system to provide a course-specific AI chatbot, a discussion forum with questions answered by AI, and an online queue for supporting students in large classes and online labs.   

• NuTeach learning platform to leverage gamification and dopamine-rewards stimulating students’ intrinsic motivation. It includes progress dashboards for students to track self-improvement. 

• Teamable Analytics Canvas-Integrated app to configure teams randomly or strategically based on preferences or project needs. It creates survey and complete peer evaluations. 

• InteDashboard platform to manage team-based learning teaching methodology. It integrates with Canvas and include readiness assessment tests for individuals and teams. 

• LearnCoding platform to teach programming at various competency levels through parallel courseware. It includes code Visualizers, Sandboxes, and Digital Badges to reward students.
