Political Science Speaker Series

March 26 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

In his talk, “What is This Thing Called Technology? Technology, Politics, and Progress,” Stefan Kehlenbach discusses the link between technology and politics, and whether new forms of digital technology driven by AI and data complicate the politics of technology.

Dr. Kehlenbach is an Assistant Professor at the University at Albany as well as a member of the Governance of Emerging Technologies research group (GET). His research focuses on the intersection of technology, structures of power, and politics. His current research is focused on technological power, asking how the vast collection of data, used to fuel technology such as AI and machine learning, becomes invested with discourses of power and shapes our political futures.
