Who is this for?

UBC Okanagan faculty and staff, particularly those in front-facing or first-responder roles.

What will you learn?

At a LivingWorks ASIST workshop, you’ll learn how to help prevent suicide by recognizing signs of risk, providing a skilled intervention, and developing a safety plan to keep someone alive. Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through the course, ensuring your comfort and safety.

Your facilitators

ASIST is co-facilitated by two certified trainers:

  • Amanda Swoboda BSW, Wellbeing Specialist, UBCO Human Resources
  • Sam Larsen MEd, Team Lead, Academic and Career Advising

Important Information

  • The focus of this training is to learn how to provide suicide first-aid to people with thoughts of suicide.
  • This training requires a minimum number of registrants. If the minimum is not met, the training will be cancelled and scheduled at a later date. Registrants will be notified prior to the course.
  • There is no cost to this training
  • Seats are limited. Please unenroll if you can no longer attend.
  • You will need to attend the full 2-day training in order to receive your certificate.
