This lecture will review how sleep affects health, mood and daytime functioning including effects on metabolism and obesity and the impact on health conditions like heart disease and diabetes. We will outline the common sleep disorders along with how these conditions are diagnosed and treated. We will discuss how to optimize sleep quality and quantity as well as how to manage insomnia.
